How the Islandhopping bicycles are built
Our Bicycles | ||
Our bicycles are the result of roughly 4 million kilometers of tours by bicyle and boat and nobody in the world can top that much experience.
The Frame | ||
![]() The tubing of our Islandhopping bikes is made in Hong Kong, shipped from there to Poland where it is neatly and precisely welded to our frames. They are then enamelled and painted our favorite colour - midnight blue.
The Mechanic | ||
![]() The most reliable bicycle mechanic we have ever met lives and works in upper Austria. He and his family have assembled hundreds of our bikes, joining all components to the frame.
Quality Control | ||
![]() As a final control, each bike is thoroughly tested. The wheels, spoked by hand, are checked once more to remove possible tension caused by torsion. The brake and gearshift lines are finely adjusted and tested one last time.
Transport | ||
![]() Only then do we pay a visit to our mechanic to fetch the bikes with our large bicyle trailer and bring them to our office in Constance. From there they go on a long and difficult organized trip, to be finally loaded onto our boats in Pula, Omisalj, Trogir, Bodrum, Marmaris and Lavrio.
