Special tour to Dalmatia and the Islands of the Kvarner Bay
with our premium ship Romantica

9 days /8 Nights, approx. 250 km (157 mi.) by bicycle

Introduction

On this special tour you explore by bike and our premium ship Romantica the most beautiful islands of the Kvarner Bay, the famous Kornati archipelago, and the town of Trogir which is listed as a cultural heritage site.

On every turn and bend of this tour you discover small towns - rich in history - and amazing natural wonders.

The day begins with a hearty breakfast and then you start exploring the amazingly divers islands of the Kvarner bay. At noon and in the evening, the cook awaits you with a freshly prepared meal. You spend most nights in picturesque little harbours whose winding lanes and cosy cafes and bars invite you to a long leisure walk.

Course of the Tour - Day 1 (Sat) Omišalj – Trogir

Individual arrival at Omisalj, a quiet harbour town on the island of Krk. From there a collective bus transfer (approx. 4 hrs) will take you to Trogir, where you move into your cabins on the Romantica. In the afternoon you have enough time for a visit of the famous UNESCO-protected Old Town of Trogir. Enjoy your stay while having a coffee or trying out some Croatian wine in one of the cosy bars.

Day 2 (Sun) Trogir - Primosten - Kornati (approx. 45 km / 38 mi. by bicycle)

On your first bicycle trip you will visit small villages in the hinterland, biking on roads with little traffic until you reach Primosten where the Romantica awaits you to a longer cruise through the national park of Kornati, an archipelago surrounded by crystal clear water. Your destination is Sali on the so-called “spicy island” of Dugi Otok where you will spend the night and where you should not miss a visit to the ice-cream parlour at the harbour.

Day 3 (Mon) Dugi Otok Island (approx. 15 + 25 km / 9 + 15,5 mi. by bicycle)

Starting from Sali you visit after breakfast the Telascica nature park whose salt lake and steep cliffs above the sea are most impressive. After a walk along the cliffs you will cycle to Savar. On this trip grandiose vistas across the deep-blue sea and the surrounding islands will impress you. In Savar you will meet the boat for lunch and afterwards you will ride on a road nearly free of traffic to Bozava. Here you spend the night.

Day 4 (Tue) Islands of Dugi Otok and Molat (approx. 30 + 20 km / 18 + 12,5 mi. by bicycle)
Dugi Otok Savar

In the morning you bicycle to the light-house of Veli Rat before you return to the bay of Bozava which is surrounded by woods of pine, agaves and tamarisk trees. Whilst lunch the boat takes you to Molat island which is well-known for its lush vegetation. In the afternoon you will do a short cycling tour from Molat to Zapuntel and back. Overnight stay in the harbour of Molat.

Day 5 (Wed) Losinj Island (approx. 20 km / 12,5 mi. by bicycle)

The day starts with a longer cross-over to the island of Losinj. If weather is good, the boat will stop for a swimming break. Along the seaside walk you cycle in the afternoon from Mali Losinj to the south of Losinj and visit the picturesque small harbour of Veli Losinj which is dominated by the huge church of St. Anton. Before you return to the boat you will have enough time to enjoy the lively harbour and the famous ice-cream. In the evening you should not miss a visit in Mali Losinj’s dance bar, where every night musicians from all over in the world play live music.

Day 6 (Thu) The island of Rab (approx. 20 km / 12,5 mi. by bicycle)
Rab Old town

After breakfast the Romantica will take you to the island of Rab, reputed to be one of the sunniest places in the entire Mediterranean. From Rab town you bike along the waterfront to the arid east of the island, where the rough, craggy rock formations resemble a moonscape. The route continues on to a bay with a sandy beach – quite rare in the Kvarner Bay islands – where you can go for a swim. In the evening you have enough time for sight-seeing in the interesting island capital with its four bell-towers.

Day 7 (Fri) The islands of Rab and Krk (approx. 28 km / 12,5 mi. by bicycle)
Island of Krk

In the morning you cycle on the well watered, green peninsula from the town of Rab to the resort of Supetarska Draga which is famous for all kinds of water sport activities. On your way you will pass the beautiful Franciscan monastery St. Eufemija before you return to Rab city from where the boat takes you to the island of Krk. The worth-seeing island’s capital of the same name with its historic Old town offers various opportunities to go out in the evening.

Day 8 (Sat) Krk Island (approx. 45 km / 28 mi. by bicycle)
Bay of Soline

You will cycle over the ridge of the island, which is covered by fragrant macchia, to a valley of vineyards, and then onwards to the small museum town of Vrbnik in the northeast. The town, built on a 50-metre-high cliff and surrounded by vineyards, is the home of the famous white wine, Zlahtina.  Another peculiarity that Vrbnik has to offer is the second narrowest alley in the world. The way will lead you on across the island through old villages and rich vegetation to Omišalj, from where Rijeka will be within your sight. On the way, you will have a chance to swim in the bay of Soline. You will spend the last night in Omišalj.

Day 9 (Sun) Omisalj (disembarkation)
The guests are asked to check out after breakfast, i.e. by 9 am.
