 | Alexander Schaz

 | | Alex grew up in southeastern Baden-Württemberg, between Schwäbisch Alb and Lake Constance. His home is in the so-called Badensian 'genius corner' of Messkirch.
Although, strictly speaking, this is not quite correct. Alex did attend school in Messkirch, where the philosopher Martin Heidegger had lived, and did receive his highschool diploma in the school named after the philosopher, his second heart most definitely beats to a Greek tune. "The reason is my mother," he always claims.
"Inexperienced and looking for work, my mother left Greece and came to Germany. But what she found was my father and love." That is why Greek became his second mothertongue and why Alex always had a special affinity with Greece.
Instead of doing his stint in the military service after highschool, Alex - ardent pacifist that he is - copped out and did alternative service in a kindergarten for handicappped in children in Sigmaringen. Only after that, during the running season of 2006, did Alex join our Island Hopping team. Because he had his own (red) bike since his first communion, he had the best prerequisites for the job. Despite his Greek roots, Alex is not only active on Greek tours but occasionally in Croatia as well.
When the summmer season is over, our Semi-Greek can be found snowboarding in the Alps. Or one can see him following his real passion - fine arts - because his wish for the future is to torture (small) children as an arts instructor. |
