Hello, I'm Birgit.

I don't have as much time as I'd like, unfortunately, to do what I like best: guiding tours for Island Hopping.

As a freelance archaeological draftsperson, I am very busy working at various achaeological sites just when the main travelling season is underway. So I only have early spring and late autumn to guide biking tours in Greece an Turkey.

I had my first contact with the Aegean already during early childhood. My parents spent some years of the golden 70s in Turkey (later in Malaysia) and they passed their enthusiasm for antiquity on to me.

While studying archaeology, I took part in excavations in western Turkey, and while doing research for my doctoral thesis, I participated in projects in Athens, Samos and the Cyclades. During the four years I was employed as an archaeologist in Athens, I got to know and love the country and the people - and I rediscovered biking as an interesting mode of travelling in these southern parts.

I'm looking forward to this season and my guests!
