Island hopping tour-guide

Tobias Lohmann

Even as a small boy, Toby was an enterprising mind who went fearlessly into the sombre woods and mountains of his home with the boy scouts. Here he learned to face all sorts of dangers which comes in handy even for his present job as a tourguide.

The second and much harder stage in his formation he received in the intensive training camp that is the Bavaria Film studios in Munich.
During his two years as a tour guide there, he trained his ear at the most peculiar accents of German as well as his psychological intuition in face of the most diverse test groups.

His home is Munich for the time being. But what does "at home" mean anyways? Is it not the place where you feel best at the moment? For Toby, this would mean quite a few places, because he is always ready to quit the shared flat for a backpacking trip in some corner of the world. That way, he has already seen parts of Africa, Thailand and the Americas. This is the reason also why his Turkish by far exceeds his command of Bavarian.

On return of his trips, he is keen on testing newly-learned exotic recipes on his friends and flatmates... If the come up with a plausible excuse, however, his girl-friend has to endure the invitation to a  „Candlelight Döner“ .

But he does not need faraway countries for recreation. Quite often, you can meet him with tent, backpack and stove in the Munich Outback on a hiking or climbing tour.

Luckily, the requirements of his second subject ethnology overlap with his interest for the production of documentary films, the first opportunity being a strip on a Bavarian male choral society.  His hope for the future is to find assignments in some more exotic location.
