Bike Tour Balearic Islands - Itinerary & Notes
Important information
This tour will be operated in 2 versions: The first version will take 9 days and 8 nights while the second version will take 8 days and 7 nights - day 7 of this tour will be omitted. On this tour the boat will cruise from Cabrera directly to the Cala d'Or and the itinerary follows with day 8. Moreover the embarkation of this tour will only take place at 4 pm.
1st Day (Fri) Island Majorca - Port Portixol (Embarkation) (D)

Check-in on the Atlantis starts at 12:00. Afterwards there will be enough time to explore the nearby island capital Palma by bicycle and on foot. In the well preserved old town the Cathedral La Seu and the Residence of the Spanish King, situated next door, are worth a visit. The castle Castell de Belver is situated above the town and offers a distant view over the island and the sea. Take your time and let yourself get carried on through the narrow alleys with its mixed style of Spanish, Catalan and Arabic influences and take a step into one of the countless Bodega (winery) for a first glass of Spanish red wine. In the evening we will enjoy our first communal dinner on board of the Atlantis. Overnight stay is in Portixol.
2nd Day (Sat) Island Majorca – Port d’Andratx (Cycle route approx. 31 km/20 mi) (B,L)

After breakfast a 4 hour crossing will start. Destination: Port d’Andratx - a place which developed from a fishing village into a popular destination for countless residences. Luxury yachts next to original fishing boats achieve a special appeal of this port. From here our first cycle tour starts. A big loop via Peguera and through fertile regions around Andratx will guide us back to the port.
3rd Day (Sun) Island Majorca – Island Ibiza, Santa Eularia (passage day) (B,L)

Today will be spent on board. A longer cruise will bring us to Santa Eularia on Ibiza, one of the most beautiful holiday spots of the island. Enjoy the stay on board: breathe in the fresh sea breeze, take your time and read a book which you have always planned to read one day, support the crew with setting the sails and expand your seaman knowledge. After the arrival there will be time for a refreshing bath on one of the three sand beaches or for a stroll across the so called Rambla (originally a riverbed used as a street). The night will be spent in front of Santa Eularia des Riu.
4th Day (Mon) Island Ibiza (Cycle route approx. 60 km/38 mi) (B)

After breakfast the cycle tour will lead you to San Carles de Paralta, a stronghold of the hippie movement of Ibiza which still offers alternative flair. Before cycling to the cosy, a little bit alternative, Saint Joan de Labritja for lunch, a long bathing stop is planned on the beach of San Vicente. Then we will move on through the agricultural coined centre of the island. Consistently you will see the typical red soil. Afterwards we will all free down for the last couple of kilometres to the vibrant town of the island- Ibiza. The night will be spent in Ibiza where you should enjoy a delicious dinner in town.
5th Day (Tue) Island Formentera (Cycle route approx. 45 km/28 mi) (B, D)

The ship will leave Ibiza after breakfast and cruise 2- 3 hours to La Savina on the Island of Formentera. It is the smallest inhabited island of the Balearic Islands and greatly preserved its original charm. Today’s cycle tour will take us to El Pilar and the lighthouse La Mola, where we will find a memorial tablet of the writer Jules Verne who mentioned the lighthouse in one of his novels. Behind the lighthouse the steep cliffs fall 140m into the sea and it is said that in good weather condition one can even see Africa.
6th Day (Wed) Islands of Formentera and Cabrera (passage day and hike) (B, L, D)

Early in the morning the proud sailing boat will bring you to Cabrera. The small and almost uninhabited island archipelago is situated south of Majorca and today a national park and a retreating area for rare bird species. During the cruise active sailing is offered again. After a 10 - 12 hour crossing today’s destination is reached. A two hour hike will offer the opportunity to explore this wonderful island before enjoying the dinner on board.
7th Day (Thu) Island Majorca (Cycle route approx. 45 km/28 mi) (B, L)

Early in the morning we will be off to Portocristo, a small port on Majorca. After a small route along the coast we will cycle into the center of the island, direction Artà. Artà is impressive especially with its over-all picture of the medieval fortress walls and of the pilgrimage church Sant Salvador. After a stroll through the alleys of the town we cycle back via Sant Llorenc and Son Carrio to Portocristo which is mostly pleasant by night with a calm and introspective atmosphere.
8th Day (Fri) Island Majorca (Cycle route approx. 30 km/19 mi) (B, D)

From Portocristo the ship cruises to Cala d’Or during the morning. This bigger holiday centre is situated on the east coast of Majorca. A last time we will hop on our bicycles and cycle along the coast and later on a little bit more into the hinterland to Santanyi, a town worth seeing and the point of origin of Majorca’s most used stone for house building. During the mining the stone is white but with the years its colour changes to gold. After a break the bicycles take us to Colonia de Sant Jordi, where our ship is already waiting to take us to the starting port Portixole. During the dinner it is finally time to say good bye to crew, tour guides and to the other guests.
9th Day (Sat) Disembarkation (B)

Check out will be after breakfast, collecting transfer to the airport and individual trip home or additional travels.
Important Notes
Changes:
We reserve the right to make alterations to the planned route due to changing wind and weather
conditions, and if required by organisational necessities. If the external circumstances and the weather condition allow there might be the possibility that the ship cruises longer routes by night. The gained time can be used for an extended program.
Requirements (Level 2) & Helmet duty:
The bicycle tours require a basic fitness of the participants which can be acquired by regular cycling. The daily routes of 30-60 km through mountainous terrain will be cycled without shortage in time. Even steeper or longer ascents can be handled- of course pushing the bike is allowed. Instead of the cycle tour, half of the day can be used as a beach day or a relaxing day on board. Streets are mostly asphalted with light traffic. Decide everyday on your own if you would like to cycle individually with maps or accompany the tour guide. There is a helmet duty in Spain. Please bring your own helmet.
Catering:
The tour includes half board. However, according to the itinerary on some days only breakfast will take place on board - on other days two warm meals. The exact division for each day can be read in the itinerary (B, L, D).
Children:
We believe that only children with a good physical condition and of a minimum age of 10 years are able to master the bike-tours on their own strength. Please note that the minimum height for a rental bike is 1.50 m.
