The Isla Ebusitana

Islandhopping Balearic Islands Ship Isla Ebusitana

The Isla Ebusitana was already built in 1856. With the name "Preciosisima sagre de nuestro senor jesucristo" (Blood of Jesus Christ) the ship had its maiden trip. Today it is the oldest, still maintained freight sailor in Spain. The two-master has a 33 m long and 6.15 m wide hulk made of massif oak and pine tree wood and an impressing sail area of 450 sqm.

In 1978 the ship was purchased by a Dutch. From this time on it sailed under British flag as a freight sailor across the ocean. Since 2004 and after several alterations and maintenance Antonio Lurente is the new proud owner of the Isla Ebusitana which is now and for the first time used as a small cruise ship in Spanish waters.

Cabin Description and Life on Board

The ship only possesses four guest cabins for a capacity of max. 12 persons. Two of these cabins are double cabins with a French bed, the other two are both four bed cabins with 2 bunk beds each. All cabins are emblazed with day light through portholes and deck hatchways.

The Isla Ebusitana holds a long history as merchant ship and only cruises as passenger ship recently. Therefore not all of the cabins include an own bathroom with shower/WC. Two cabins share one bathroom (differing from our ships in Croatia and Greece which were already well designed as passenger cruise ships during the building process).

For the well-being of our Islandhoppers a four-five headed crew and its German captain Klaus will conjure a variety of Spanish delicacies. Food will be served according to weather conditions either in the cosy saloon or on a big table on deck.
