A matter of heart - Our benefit project for the rehabilitation clinic Tannheim

If you would like to learn more about our benefit program, a SWR camera team accompanied us on our 2011 tour and filmed a report on the rehabilitation clinic and the Islandhopping tour of the seven families. The report, with the title "Ich habe geträumt, ich bin gesund" (I dreamt that I am healthy) can be seen using the following link. It has been documented in German.

Many good reasons why we support Tannheim

"When I grow up I want to be healthy"

In 2011, a very special adventure tour of great importance to us Island Hoppers took place for the second time. In cooperation with the German rehabilitation organisation for children with cancer and the rehabilitation clinic Tannheim, we were able to offer a week of  some fun and relaxation for severely chronically ill children and their families.
Ten children with cancer, heart defects or cystic fibrosis and their families as well as three afflicted youths from the rehabilitation clinic Tannheim were taken by our tour guides Tobias and Dejan on a seven-day-cruise on the San Snova to the Dalmatian coast of Croatia. For many it is the first real holiday after long hospitalisations. All patients had last year been in rehabilitation at the Tannheim clinic. Among them was a blind family whose fate was particularly tragic, because one of their daughters had already died of cancer and another daughter had been  born with an initially severe cardiac defect.

In 2009, our graphic designer, Bernd Langer, had heard a radio report about the rehabilitation clinic Tannheim, and we were all quickly convinced by the holistic approach practiced there. The idea to offer a carefree time to children with such grave health problems inspired us to help, although it is sometimes heartrending for those involved to know that one or the other of our young guests may never again take part in another such tour.
The gratitude expressed by the families, the delight of the children, and the loving words and drawings that we received make us look forward to the next adventure tour  in 2012, which will take place on Aug. 4 to Aug. 11. Together with Dieter Wehrle, the foundation chairman and director of the clinic, who always accompanies the tours, we are looking forward to a very special event and a carefree time for some of the patients and their families. Which of the afflicted families can participate is decided entirely by the foundation.

For each tour that you book, 5.00 euro is automatically deposited in a donations account of the rehab clinic. In this way, many small donations add up to a wonderful help for a number of children.

If you wish to make a voluntary donation as well, you can do so under the address given below. Your donation is, of course, deductable. For donations up to 200.00 euro, it is usually sufficient to present the deposit slip at the tax office. For donations above 100.00 euro, the foundation will gladly issue a receipt.

After the 2010 benefit tour we received many nice pictures from the children...
