Bike Tour Argosaronic Gulf General map

As requested by many of our regular customers, we now have a new tour in the Island Hopping programme 2011: a cruise in the Argo-Saronic Gulf between Attica and the Peloponnese. Experience for a week by bike and the two-masted motor sailer Panagiota one of the historically richest regions of Greece: From Piraeus, Athens' port, you head for the small but very beautiful island of Poros and the mariners' islands of Spetses and Hydra. Their main towns still reflect the wealth of their former powerful mercantile marine. With every step you come across traces of the Greek War of Independence 1821-1830. Even today, every child in Hellas is familiar with the fascinating female captain Laskarina Bouboulina, who lived on Spetses and with her ship Agammemnon fought in the front lines of the sea battles. In the Peloponnese, an idyllic fishing harbour atmosphere of the purest kind awaits you in the picturesque port of Ermioni, where playful dolphins are frequently sighted. A visit to the ancient theatre of Epidauros, which seated 14 000 spectators and, enthroned high above the blue sea, the brilliant white temple of Aphaia on Aegina - an island famous for its pistachios - are some of the cultural highlights of this tour.
