Special tour from Dubrovnik to Trogir - Itinerary
Special tour from Dubrovnik to Trogir - 7 days/6 nights, approx. 190 km (119 mi.) by bicycle
This special tour leads from Dubrovnik to Trogir. The bike-tours in Southern Dalmatia, the smallest and most sparsely populated region in Croatia, will take you past unique little towns and the beautiful island countryside.
These tours will let you experience the beautiful island of Korcula with its picturesquely situated old township, the wine growing peninsula of Peljesac and to the south of the peninsula the island of Mljet, with its impressive national park. Your tour guide will guide you through the towns of Trogir, Hvar, Stari Grad and Korcula, which are almost all protected by UNESCO‘s world heritage list.
Highlight of the tour is the world-famous city of Dubrovnik with its impressive and well-preserved fortification system.

Individual arrival at Dubrovnik either by car or plane. Alternatively, you travel to Trogir and from there at ca. 11 am by group transfer to Dubrovnik. After checking in, you have the early afternoon at your disposal, either for a walk through this interesting town and its excellently preserved fortress or a short bike ride to one of the nearby beaches. In the late afternoon, a local guide accompanies you through Dubrovnik and tells you all about its eventful history. The evening dinner afterwards is the first meal on board of your ship.

Early in the morning, your journey begins with a short cruise to the island of Sipan, the largest of the ElafitiIslands. A pleasant bike ride takes you past numerous luxery villas belonging to the rich and noble of Dubrovnik, through lush forests, fertile valleys and sub-tropical parks. Afterwards, your ship takes you on a 2-hour-cruise to Mljet, the "Honey Island". Starting from the ferry portSobra, you bicycle to Pomena. Mljet Island, covered to 90 % by forest, is one of the most densely wooded islands in the entire Mediterranean. Homer already mentions it in his Odyssee as the home of the nymph Calypso, who held the famous hero captive here for seven years. A short side trip takes you to Mljet National Park. Here, Benedictine monks founded in the 12th cent. a monastery fabulously located on a small island, which can be reached with a small excursion boat. Overnight at Pomena.

In the morning you continue by ship to the Peljesac Peninsula. Peljesac is impressive even from afar, because the Sv. Ilja mountain range rises almost 1000 m high out of the sea. From Trstenik, your bike trip takes you to the hinterland, past Dalmatia's most famous vineyards - home of the delicious Plavac and Dingac vintages - to Orebic. The ship takes you afterwards to Korcula and the island capital by the same name, which competes with Venice for the honour of being the birthplace of Marco Polo, the famous explorer. Here you have sufficient time to explore this beautiful town at leisure.

After breakfast, leaving the town of Korcula, you bicycle at first along an extensive coastal road. A short stretch of pushing your bike takes you to an impressive panorama road. It runs above the bay of Pupnat which, glittering in all shades of blue, is one of the favourite photo motifs of our guests. You then continue on to Brna and Vela Luka, where the bikes are taken on board for the crossing to Hvar. The island capital by the same name is one of the highpoints of every journey in Dalmatia. During a long walk you get to know the beautiful medieval centre and the citadel perched high above it. You can end the day relaxing in a cosy wine-bar.

Along today's bicycle route on an almost car-free pass road, small island villages with their attractive stone houses are lined up like pearls on a chain. After lunch in Stari Grad, the next bike tour takes you to the idyllic harbours of Jelsa and Vrboska, inviting you to take a long break for swimming and ice cream. For the night, you return again to Stari Grad, which in recent years has developed into a Mekka for artists and art lovers.

After crossing over to Stomorska on the island of Solta, we set out on our last bicycle tour. Walled-in fields, olive groves, carob and fig trees line the road. The spicy aroma of lavender and rosemary accompanies us on the ride across this quiet island. At Maslinica we load up our bikes and enjoy the last crossing to Trogir. There we have enough time to go sight-seeing in the historical centre, which is listed as a World Heritage site.

Disembarkation till 9 am and individual departure.
Alterations
We reserve the right to make alterations on the itinerary, depending on wind and weather conditions as well as organisational necessities.
Requirements (level 2-3)
The bike-tours require a basic level of fitness from participants, which they should have acquired from steady cycling. The day-tours from 20 to 60 km will take you through hilly and mountainous terrain and will be completed without any time-constraints. Participants will also need to master long and steep climbs, during which they are, however, also permitted to push their bikes. You are free to set aside a half or full day to swim or spend on board the boat, instead of taking a planned bike-tour. We will traverse mostly asphalted roads, which are rarely travelled on outside the holiday seasons. Each day you can either decide to bike alone, using the information and maps provided, or join the two tour guides or other participants.
Bringing children
We believe that only children in a good physical condition and of a minimum age of 10 and previous bicycle tour experience are able to master the bike-tours on their own strength. Please note that the minimum height for a rental bike is 1,40 m (4.6 ft.)
Catering
The cook on board is a member of the crew of four and prepares breakfast and two warm meals a day.
