How to get to the Seychelles
  • The international airport  of the Seychelles (SRZ) is situated on the island of Mahé, not far away from Victoria, the capital of Mahé. The airport is frequented by several airlines throughout the year.

  • Air Seychelles, the national carrier, operates non-stop scheduled flights from UK (London/Heathrow), France (Paris/Charles de Gaulle), Italy (Rome/Fiumicino), Singapore, Mauritius and South Africa (Johannesburg) into Mahé International Airport.

  • Quatar Airways (QR) and Emirates (EK) provide direct flights to worldwide sectors through their hubs in Dubai and Doha. Other airlines flying to Seychelles include Air France (AF), Air Mauritius (MK), Condor, Kenya Airways (KQ) and Air Austral (UU).

  • Flying times to Seychelles are relatively short: e.g. 10 hours from London, 9,5 hours from Paris, 8,5 hours from Rome, 2,5 hours from Mauritius, 4,5 hours from Johannesburg, 4,5 hours from Dubai.

  • The earlier a flight is booked the moe likely is it to get a low priced  ticket.

Journey
  • Irrespective of the nationality of a visitor and his or her family members, there are no visa requirements to enter Seychelles. However, the following documents must be shown in order to obtain immigration clearance at the Seychelles International Airport:

    - A passport valid on the date of entry to and exit from Seychelles
    - Return or onward ticket
    - Proof of accomodation (including contact details)
    - Sufficient funds for the duration of the stay

    Presentation of all of the above documents will grant you a Visitors' Permit that will be issued upon arrival by the Seychelles Department of Immigration. The Visitors' Permit is valid for one month.

  • Children under 16 years old do either need an identification card for minors including a photograph or a registration in the passport of the accomponying parent.

  • In general it is wise to take copies of important personal documents such as passport as well as passport photos with you. This enables swift arrangement of substitutes in case of loss of the original documents.
Vaccinations
  • There are no dangerous or poisenous animals on Seychelles nor are there any tropical diseases such as malaria, yellow fever, cholera or typhus. Therefore no specific vaccination is required as long as you do not arrive from a Yellow Fever-infected area.

  • If you come from, or passed through a partly or wholly infected yellow fever area (e.g. northern and central South America or central Africa), you will need a yellow fever vaccination in order to enter Seychelles.

Time difference

The time difference in relation to Western Europe is plus 2 hours in summer and plus 3 hours in winter.

Currency

The official currency on Seychelles is the rupee (1 Euro = 6,30 SR). Rupees are only accepted in taxis, buses and gift shops. Therefore it is advisable to exchange only small amounts of rupees upon arrival at Mahé Airport. In general we recommend to have sufficient cash money in small banknotes with you (Euro or US Dollars) since western currencies are excepted almost everywhere.

Climate
The climate on Seychelles is tropical throughout the year with temperatures between 24 and 33 ° C. The water temperature varies from 26 to 30 ° C.
