Here we undertake our first cycle tour to the Marjan Mountain, a popular relaxation destination for the inhabitants of Split. After this tour our guide accompanies us on a walk through the old town of Split, which is built adjoining the famous palace of the Roman Caesar Diocletian and is a world heritage site.

2nd Day (Sun) Cetina Canyon (approx. 43 km / 27 mi. by bicycle)

cyclists in Southern Dalmatia
After breakfast we cycle into the valley of the Cetina River, which has buried itself deep into the cliff faces. We return to Omiš with its pirate castles by way of small side roads through a varied landscape. There is also the option of taking part in a 2 hour rafting tour on the Cetina River. In the afternoon we cross over to Brač Island with a swim break. The island of Brač is very famous for its white marble which has been used for the White House in Washington and the Reichstag in Berlin.

3rd Day (Mon) Brac Island (approx. 22 km / 14 mi. by bicycle)

fig tree

Today's route begins in Pučišća with a long but moderate ascent to the mountain ridge of the island past mulberry, kiwi and fig trees, olive groves and vineyards. The following descent to Bol rewards us for our earlier climb with amazing panoramic views of the neighboring island Hvar. Right before lunch we cross to the island of Korčula. Overnight stay in the picturesque harbor of Račišće.

4th Day (Tues) Mljet + Pelješac Peninsula (approx. 12 km / 7 mi. + 26 km / 16 mi. by bicycle)

old town of Korcula

Early in the morning the ship takes us to Mljet, which is also known as the honey island. In the 12th century Benedictine monks founded a beautifully situated monastery, which we will see on our short bike trip. The local pine forest is one of the most beautiful of its kind in the entire Mediterranean region; Odysseus is said to have spent 7 years here. Today this region is a National park and one of the highlights of every Dalmatian journey.
At noon we continue our journey to Pelješac Peninsula. It impresses visitors even from afar with its Sv. Ilja Mountain, which rises almost 1000 meters from the sea. After arrival in Trstenik we make a cycle tour into the inland of the island, past the most famous wine growing region of Dalmatia (the excellent Plavac und Dingac wines come from here), to Orebić.
After arrival we cross to Korčula Island whose capital town vies with Venice for the title of the birth place of Marco Polo. There is enough time for us for an extensive stroll through the alleys of this beautiful town.

5th Day (Wed) Korcula Island (approx. 55 km / 34 mi. by bicycle)

Pupnat bay on Korcula Island
Today we explore the Island of Korčula by bicycle. The peacefulness and remoteness of luscious gardens with large cypresses dominate the appearance of perhaps the most beautiful Dalmatian island. First we cycle along the coastal road for a short while. After a short period of pushing our bike to Pupnat we’ll reach the old 200m/660 ft. high pass road above the magnificent bay of Pupnat and later the village of Blato which, like Rome, was built on 7 hills. Overnight stay in the harbor of Vela Luka.

6th Day (Thu) Hvar Island (approx. 20 + 25 km / 12,5 + 15 mi. by bicycle)

Lavender Island of Hvar

After arriving in Hvar we will make an interesting tour around the town, across the large Renaissance square, which is lined with the cathedral and many late gothic palaces. Our first bike tour for today leads us along the almost traffic free pass road through small villages. After lunch in Stari Grad we will make a second cycle tour. The destination for the tour are the harbors of Jelsa and Vrboska, which invite us to an extended break . We will overnight in Stari Grad, which has become a Mecca for artists and art lovers in the past few years.

7th Day (Fri) Solta Island (approx. 19 km / 12 mi. by bicycle)

clothes
After crossing over to Stomorska on the island of Solta we commence our last cycle tour. Walled fields, numerous olive groves, locust bean and fig trees line the roads. The herb smells of lavender and rosemary accompany us along our tour of this island. In Maslinica we’ll load the bikes onto the ship and enjoy our last crossing back to Trogir where, if time permits, we can take a tour of the old town which is a world heritage site.

8th Day (Sat) Disembarkation at Trogir

Market Place in Croatia

Disembarkment until 9am and individual departure.

General Information

Changes
We reserve the right to make changes to the planned route due to changing wind and weather conditions, and where required by organizational necessities.

Requirements (level 2-3)
The bike tours require a basic level of fitness from participants, which they should have acquired from steady cycling. The tours will take us up to a height of between 200 and 500 m above sea-level. The day-tours from 30 to 50 km will take us through hilly and mountainous terrain and will be completed without any time-constraints. Participants will also need to master long and steep climbs, during which they are, however, also permitted to push their bikes. You are free to set aside a half or full day to swim or spend on board the boat, instead of taking a planned bike-tour. We will traverse mostly asphalted roads, which are rarely traveled on outside the holiday seasons. Each day you can either decide to bike alone, using the information and maps provided, or join the two tour guides or other participants. Helmet use is mandatory on all bike tours. You are strongly encouraged to bring your own (well-fitted) helmet. There is a limited number of bike helmets on board available (reservation requested before the trip).

Bringing Children
We believe that only children in a good physical condition and of a minimum age of 10 and previous bicycle tour experience are able to master the bike-tours on their own strength. Please note that the minimum height for a rental bike is 1.40 m (4.6 ft.)

Catering
The cook on board is a member of the crew and prepares the breakfast and two warm meals a day.  The full board starts with the lunch on the arrival day and ends with the breakfast on the departure day.

Guided Tour
The tour will generally be guided in German language. One of the guides will translate into English for non-German-speaking participants.

Participants
Minimum: 16 participants
Maximum: 30 participants
